December 11, 2023

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, the Center Moriches Fire Department hosted its much-anticipated annual Holiday Parade of Lights along Main Street. The occasion drew an impressive crowd, featuring participation from over 55 neighboring fire departments, EMS agencies, and local community groups.

The Parade kicked off at 6:00 p.m. led by the Center Moriches Fire Department. Enjoying perfect weather with mild temperatures nearly reaching 50 degrees families and friends gathered along Main Street, creating a vibrant atmosphere honoring one of Center Moriches' most cherished traditions.

The streets were lined with thousands of spectators eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival, escorted into town on a Center Moriches Fire truck. The Parade featured an array of participants, including Boy and Girl Scouts, fire trucks, marching bands, and an assortment of colorful floats, delighting onlookers throughout the hour-and-a-half-long parade.

Before the Parade began, our judges reviewed over a dozen floats, awarding trophies to the most outstanding entries. As the Parade unfolded, winners were announced and presented with trophies as they passed by the reviewing stand.

The spotlight of the evening was on the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, whose captivating Polar Express Train took home the esteemed honor of 'Best Overall' float.

Recognitions were also awarded to:

• Girl Scout Troop 2144 - Best Girl Scouts Float
• Mastic Ambulance - Best Decorated Fire / EMS Apparatus
• Ridge Fire Department - Best Fire / EMS Float
• Our Lady Queen of Apostles - Best Community Group Float

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the judges who faced the challenging task of selecting winners among the many outstanding floats. The Center Moriches Fire Department extends our gratitude to all of the participants, whose contributions made the Holiday Parade of Lights an unforgettable community event for the enjoyment of thousands.

On behalf of the officers and members of the Center Moriches Fire Department, we extend warm wishes for a safe and happy holiday season to all.
