Center Moriches Fire Department Explorers Post 540 were on the streets of Center Moriches yesterday clearing snow from fire hydrants.
They learned the importance of clearing the snow around the fire hydrant 3 feet in all directions. They also learned how a fire hydrant buried under snow can seriously delay getting water to the scene of a fire.
