Firefighters didn't have to travel to far on Friday afternoon when they were alerted for motor vehicle accident on Main Street. The car which was traveling east on Montauk Highway struck the tree across from the Center Moriches Firehouse at approximately 12:15pm.

The occupant of the vehicle who claimed to be uninjured was evaluated by Center Moriches EMT's and refused transport to the hospital. Units were back in service 20 minutes later.
