Last night, Center Moriches Firefighters conducted ice rescue drills to enhance their skills and readiness for real-world emergencies. These critical exercises ensure we can respond quickly and effectively to ice-related incidents.

As temperatures rise, we urge everyone to use extreme caution near frozen bodies of water. Ice conditions can change rapidly, becoming thinner and more unstable. Remember, you can never be sure how thick the ice is—stay safe and stay off the ice when in doubt!

If someone falls through the ice, remember the three steps:
❄️ Dial 911 immediately.
❄️ Provide a flotation device or something they can grab on to.
❄️ Avoid untrained rescue attempts; wait for professionals.
