This past Tuesday evening, members of the Center Moriches Fire Department and the Mastic Fire Department's Water Rescue Teams took to the water to practice their skills. The training session began with firefighters reviewing safety protocols for working in and around water. Following this, the water rescue team simulated a rescue operation for an individual who had fallen off a boat into the bay.
This joint training session not only strengthened the skills and abilities of both departments but also built trust and teamwork. Knowing that they can rely on each other enhances the overall effectiveness of their emergency response efforts.
The members of Center Moriches and Mastic Fire Departments are part of the Marine Incident Response Team, a marine task force of six local fire departments. These highly trained professionals are ready to mobilize at a moment's notice, ensuring the safety of our waterways year-round. |
