On Saturday the streets of Center Moriches came alive with holiday cheer as the Center Moriches Fire Department hosted its much-anticipated annual Holiday Parade of Lights along Main Street. The event drew an incredible crowd, with participation from over 55 neighboring fire departments, EMS agencies, and local community groups, making it a true celebration of community spirit and tradition.

The Parade kicked off at 6:00 p.m., led by the Center Moriches Fire Department. Families and friends braved the crisp, 30 degree temperatures gathering along Main Street to enjoy one of Center Moriches’ most cherished holiday traditions.

Thousands of spectators lined the streets, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus, who made his grand entrance atop a Center Moriches Fire truck. The parade dazzled onlookers with its Impressive lineup of participants, including Boy and Girl Scouts, marching bands, fire trucks, and a spectacular variety of colorful floats. The hour-and-a-half-long procession brought smiles and holiday cheer to attendees of all ages.

Before the Parade began, a panel of judges reviewed more than a dozen creative floats, awarding trophies to the most outstanding entries. As the parade marched down Main Street, the winners were announced and presented with their awards at the reviewing stand.

The highlight of the night belonged to the Holiday Beach Property Owners Float, which took home the coveted title of 'Best Overall Float'. Additional recognitions included:

• Daisy Troop 1948 – Best Daisy Troop Float
• Girl Scouts Service Unit 65 – Best Girl Scout Float
• Manorville Fire Department – Best Decorated Fire/EMS Apparatus
• Mastic Fire Department – Best Fire/EMS Float
• Ultimate Mower – Best Community Group Float

Our heartfelt thanks go to the judges, who faced the difficult task of selecting winners among so many impressive entries. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the participants for their creativity, effort, and dedication, which made this year’s Holiday Parade of Lights a truly memorable event.

A special thank you is also extended to the Suffolk County Police Department, Brookhaven Town Highway Department, Suffolk County Fire Rescue & Emergency Services, and the Miller Place Fire Department for their invaluable behind-the-scenes support, ensuring the success of the parade.

On behalf of the officers and members of the Center Moriches Fire Department, we wish everyone a safe, joyous, and happy holiday season. Thank you for being part of this cherished tradition that brings our community together in the true spirit of the holidays.
