| Just after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Center Moriches firefighters were activated for an auto accident with injuries at the Mobil Station located at Wading River Road and the North Service Road of Sunrise Highway.
While emergency personnel were responding to the scene, they were advised that a vehicle had crashed into one of the fuel pumps and that the fuel pump was on fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire involving the fuel pump and secured the area.
EMS personnel evaluated the operator of the vehicle, who was not injured and did not require medical attention.
After firefighters confirmed there were no fuel leaks or other hazards, the scene was turned over to the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal's and Suffolk County Police for investigation.
Firefighters were back in service within 30 minutes. |
