At 3:05 p.m., the Center Moriches Fire Department was requested to the scene of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Main Street just west of the firehouse.
CMFD EMS personnel quickly assessed the patient and determined that transport to a trauma center was necessary. A Suffolk County Police helicopter was requested for medevac, and firefighters secured the ball field off Beachfern Road as a landing zone.
Main Street remained closed for several hours while the Suffolk County Police Department conducted its investigation.
